Excellent round-up, all.

My low point was having to go to another gig instead of catching Michael Nyman at the Barbican.

And not getting to see The Snow Queen before all the tickets sold out.

And Stockhausen dying.

I don't think I have any high points. Apart from discovering what all the fuss was about Arvo Part.

Note to self: must go to more classical things next year.

Thomas Quasthoff's Winterreise at the Wigmore Hall was very special; not because of his disability, not in spite of his disability, but just because it was extraordinary. Elizabeth Leonskaja's Schubert and the ENO's two Britten operas were also marvellous. And Bryn Terfel as Sweeney at the RFH ... commanding the audience "you sir, come and have a shave ..." and we all shrunk back in our seats.

I agree about Sweeney Todd, Paul - it only didn't make it onto my list because there was so much else. Sorry to have missed Quasthoff. We have Alice Coote's Winterreise to look forward to next year!

I'm surprised La fille du regiment didn't appear in your round-up. I thought it was brilliant.

Patrizia Ciofi as Alaide (La Straniera, RFH)

Dudamel and the Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela at the Proms?
