Chinese Democracy played on Radio 1

Axlrose1

Today BBC Radio 1's Sara Cox played the title track from the long-delayed Guns N' Roses album Chinese Democracy. The show can be heard over at the iPlayer.

As most of Guns N' Roses long ago left to form Velvet Revolver, this album is, infamously, something of an Axl Rose solo project, albeit with a revolving door of new band members.

The Roses have, in their various guises, been on the road between album releases; a Europe and North America tour in 2006 included a spot at the Download Festival.

The album, the first original studio material since Use Your Illusion back in 1991 and first album of any kind since The Spaghetti Incident, is expected in November. In the UK it will be released on Polydor.

So. Are you waiting with baited breath? Can it possibly live up to the self-generated hype? Does the world in 2008 really care about Guns N' Roses? What do you make of the single?

Sounds Great
Great to hear the finished version.
Welcome back Axl!!!

Cannot think of anything worse than this band, well it's not even a band, it's a solo project for an over inflated ego, that has took 15 odd years is it? For an album that's titled 'Chinese Democracy', should be called 'Over Indulgent drivel, for an over inflated ego'.

No better than 80's poodle perm 'rock' thats slightly more credible than Bon Jovi. This is backed up by an hilarious looking Slash who never changes his stripes, so to speak. The characature still wears his hat, long hair, and cigarette (that is probably one of those joke ones) 25 years on, since first appearing. Even Bon Jovi has changed there look a bit!

Anyways i'm digressing, this album will probably sell a shed load, from their loyal fan base, dying in anticpation, hoping for another 'Appetite for Destruction' unfortunatley Mr Rose is going to be about a bit longer living off past glories.

Seoul Hudson (24 October 2008 at 05:25 PM) criticising Slash... quite hilarious! Over inflated ego or not, Axl always had the talent to back it up. I bet my bottom dollar that Chinese Democracy is going to have more memorable tunes than Slash, Duff, Adler, Izzy or Gilby managed collectively over the last 15 years.

shamsur | 26 October 2008 at 12:12 PM .... so you dont actually like the other members? it's just Axl Rose you like? Very odd! it's pretty much a solo project now, G'n'R, It remains to be seen if it has more memorable tunes, i'll be suprised if it does, they peaked in the eighties, ran out of ideas and did a covers album... then split up. Probably cos of Axl Rose and his ego, the guy is an idiot, he demanded a Limo to go a few feet from his backstage caravan.. to the stage at Download festival, he could of just walked there!

GNR are irrelevant, Axl living off past glories, people like you will buy. I suggest you save yourself some money, strangle a cat, and I guarantee you will hear a perfect Axl Rose replacement sing 'Sweet Child of Mine'.

**disclaimer**... No cat died in my experiment, but it did bite me, and went off in a huff.... which pretty much sums up Axl Rose!

Axl Rose is an arse.

Next.
